Die BUTZE A home for young people in need

The BUTZE is much more than just a new building - it is a safe place that gives young people in difficult situations hope, orientation and new perspectives. Here, children and young people will not only find a roof over their heads, but above all warmth, care and support.

The symbolic ground-breaking ceremony in March 2023 marked the start of the construction of a unique project that will set standards throughout Germany. The shell has now been completed and a versatile building with a heart is being built on seven floors: a total of around 40 living and sleeping spaces will be set up - supplemented by a warming room, a canteen kitchen, advice offices, rooms for education and leisure, a clothing store and a modern street work station. The BUTZE combines 3,650 square meters of support services - a holistic approach that helps young people in need on several levels.

This pioneering project is financed exclusively by donations - with a total volume of around 21 million euros. One of the most important main sponsors is the Manfred Strohscheer Foundation, which has been a major supporter of the project since the beginning.

The opening of BUTZE is planned for spring 2026. This is when the first young people are expected to move in.
